Fred, with another Gateways for Youth board member, Alan Zubrinich, travelled with staff Martin Slattery and Geoff Deans while promoting initiatives being implemented with APY communities.

These students from Pt Augusta’s Carlton School were taken on a 2 day tour of the OZ Minerals mine site at Prominent Hill during which time they were shown the many facets of the mining industry. They also received a tour of the underground sleeping quarters and many other interesting nooks and crannies hiding around the mine site!

Mustering through the Bush

Temperature rising to 39 degrees, 70% humidity, the muster becomes hard. With no respite, and no way home, the young ringers are tested to their core. Community elders, here seen mentoring their charges, are proud of the lads fighting off the formidable challenges to succeed.
